Sedbergh Parish Council currently has two casual vacancies, and as no election has been requested, the Council intends to co-opt to fill these positions.
What does the role involve? As a Parish Councillor, you will have the opportunity to:
- Represent the views and interests of residents
- Contribute to decision-making on matters affecting the parish
- Work collaboratively with fellow councillors to improve services and amenities
- Play an active part in developing community projects and initiatives
Why get involved? Serving as a Parish Councillor is a rewarding way to contribute to the well-being of your community. It is an excellent opportunity to influence local decisions, support positive change, and help shape the future of the parish.
Who is eligible? To be considered for co-option, you must be 18 years or older and meet at least one of the following criteria:
- You must be a registered voter in the parish of Sedbergh
- Have occupied land or premises in the parish (as owner or tenant) for the last 12 months
- Have had your principal or only place of work within the parish for the last 12 months
- Have resided in the parish, or within 3 miles of it, for the last 12 months

If you would like to serve as a Parish Councillor, please contact the Clerk to the Council, who will provide an application form (including full eligibility criteria), explain the nature of the role, outline the likely time commitment, and provide information on training available for new Councillors.
